The Loire is one of France’s most important, and largest, wine regions. The wines from this region are mostly white, and are wonderfully diverse. The dry white wines Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé - from the very middle of France - are the most well known. But there is so much more to the Loire than just crisp, fruity Sauvignon Blanc. Further west Chenin Blanc is responsible for some of the planet’s greatest dry, medium and sweet wines. Wines such as Vouvray, Savennières and Montlouis are some of the most underestimated of France, and we love them. The Loire is also responsible for lovely, elegant red wines such as Chinon and Bourgueil.
